St. Martinus REAL TALK

$

If you want the real info on St. Martinus, you can ask away here. You will get the REAL truth here -- the good, the bad, and the ugly. I'm not one of those University-paid employees that brag about there school; we are all in the business of providing bringing care and goodwill to people so I want everyone to know the truth about this school.

I'll get things started with the stuff I've noticed so far:

Good: American, Canadian, Indian loans available; nice island/campus; good food (nice restaurants within walking distance)

Bad: Construction noise during class (although they have been working a lot less on weekdays)

Is St. Martinus University actually approved by the Medical Council of India?

The school's website says it is, but I found this on the Medical Council of India's website (from September 17, 2012):

Quote:

"...the MCI may be allowed not to issue eligibility certificate in respect of St. Martinus University, Faculty of Medicine, Curacao...in view of the fact that the Govt. of Curacao does not issue authenticity form for the medical degrees of offshore institutions/entity operating in their country. Subject to approval of this proposal by the Ministry of Health & F.W., the MCI will stop issuing eligibility certificate from prospective effect."

I was looking at the St. Martinus Wikipedia page and came across this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Sharmauiuc/Archive

He was banned from editing Wikipedia for using multiple accounts, including the "Cmutosteustatius" account, who claimed to be a disgruntled ex-CMU student: en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Cmutosteustatius&oldid=539933 472

Just wondering if someone from St Martinus could post the official match results from this year?
I am just exploring my options for Caribbean schools and I would like to see if there are any students that got any competitive matches
I would also like to know what the class size is? and school size?
It would be great if I could get some feedback from an actual student please :)

Congrats SMU team on the Match Result

SMU President NOT Banned from Wikipedia

In an earlier thread, someone alleged that the SMU Pres. was banned from Wikipedia. I've gathered some info from Admin, and here is what I've come up with:

VintageTrail said:
Are you saying that the SMU president isn't actually banned? How do you explain this then: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Sharmauiuc#Blocked_for_sockpuppetry

I conclude:
First of all, the account in question is "Blocked," not banned, so you are factually incorrect.
Next, just because someone claims to be someone on the internet does not mean that it is their actual identity. VintageTrail, let me explain it in a way perhaps you WILL be able to understand: if my username was "Barack O," does that really mean that I am the president of the USA?

Now, it is very clear to me that looking at the "Talk" pages from both schools that CMU loves to play around in Wikipedia. You can see for yourself. Funny how this article regarding the murder of a CMU student is not CMU's Wikipedia page,
Jersey City medical student killed in Curacao won local honors in science (see h t t p : / / w w w .nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2011/07/jersey_city_medical_student_ki.html)

St. Martinus gaining popularity?

As I was posting last night around 11 pm EST, I noticed that there were 56 users viewing our school's VMD threads. That was tied for first (with St. Georges) out of all the Carib schools. :p

Personally, I think it is time for people to start noticing our school. The academics have greatly improved the last few semesters, and especially from last to this semester.

Has anyone else noticed this positive trend at SMU?

Hi everyone,

This thread is for all the new students. Please introduce yourself and get to know each other! I am sure that I will be able to answer most of your questions, and other current students can chime in as well!

Good luck and I hope to see you next semester!!!! :)

Important immigration notice for prospective students

Dear Prospective Students,

Please be advised that students are required to have a Student Residency Permit (SRP) to stay on the island during Basic Sciences.

The University will submit, on your behalf, documents to the Immigration Department in Curaçao to process your application for your “Student Residency Permit” after you have reached Curaçao. Your SRP is an ID card issued by the Govt. of Cura
çao, comparable to a green card. It will allow you to travel in and out of Curaçao without any hassle of getting travel visa. This SRP will be valid for a period of one year, renewable as many times as your study requires. The University will reapply for your SRP every year as long as you are enrolled as a student.

Please contact one of our admission offices if you need any clarification regarding this process.

Thank you,

SMUFOM, Administration
